Introducing Disdance, a Dance Company which has been delivering dance workshops to school children for six years.

About Disdance

Over the past six years, Disdance has become a style of dance unique in its expressive and creative abilities. It is a style that has presented children with an accessible way in which to discover the freedom and excitement of dance as taught by a professional. As seen in the Stomp stage show the Disdance technique revolves around creating rhythms with hands and feet, whilst incorporating various movements from many different styles of dance. The workshops are comprised of two main parts.

Firstly the children will learn a pre-choreographed Disdance routine, these routines vary according to age and ability. This routine will be learnt and performed en mass. The second part gives the children the opportunity to choreograph their own routines in smaller groups using rhythm and movement. They will be shown how to include different aspects of choreography like canons and solos and will end up with a routine that the whole school will enjoy watching.

End of the day performances are optional but highly recommended

“The workshops are proving more than a luxury add-on. The student’s new found love of dance is reflected in their formal lessons.”
Carolyn O’Grady TES
